In electronic music there are certain melodies and pieces of sound design that can be recognised in a split second and today marks 15 years since the release of a track which has one of the most recognizable melodies, pieces of sound design, and vocals. The track of course being the timeless classic ‘Heads Will Roll.’
After originally being created by the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs, in 2009 A-Trak would put his spin on it creating a legendary piece of house music. At the centre of the track is a string riff sampled from a Mellotron M4000D sound card which appeared in the original track but was modified in the remix to make a stabbing lead that oozes club energy.
A-Trak brought his funky house style that you would expect from the Duck Sauce member and made a song that to this day is a staple song to hear out in the clubs. He is a legend of electronic music who in the 15 years since has continued to pump out more of his funky beats as both a solo artist and alongside Armand Van Helden as part of Duck Sauce. ‘Heads Will Roll’ will forever be one of the great club anthems and will always bring good vibes wherever it’s played.
