Hard to believe that Fedde le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ turns 18 today. This was the debut single for le Grand as a Tech House and Progressive House producer. The track peaked at #4 on the Dutch Top 40 and had two versions: the original at 6:32 and the radio edit at 2:32.
Listening to the track, ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’, has a futuristic beat with a techno house vibe. The music video, set in the “near future, 2027,” tells a tale of fem-bots creating, testing, and bringing male androids to life. Released in 2006, this seemed like a distant future. The single went on to be Certified Gold in the UK, selling 400K copies, and won two awards: the 2007 MTV Australia Award for Best Dance Video and the 2007 International Dance Music Award for Best Underground Dance Track.
