In a discussion for the greatest dance singles of all time, ‘King Of My Castle’ by Wamdue Project surely takes its place within the leaders. Originally released on the 24th of May, 1997, ‘King Of My Castle’ gained notoriety when it was remixed by Roy Malone. This remixed version, which is now often referred to as the original version due to its popularity, soared into the top 10 of a multitude of charts across the globe. Although it is 24 years old, this single still holds up to this day as a high-quality production which makes it a true dance classic.
Basically a solo project for Atlanta producer Chris Brann with the help of DJ cohorts Deep C and Udoh, Wamdue Productions‘ recordings provided one of the few convincing home/club fusions which err, if at all, on the side of the dancefloor. Unlike the large community of artists more allied to their headphones than a bass bin, Wamdue productions are easy club favorites, and though they record for the strictly mainstreamStrictly Rhythm, Wamdue marries intense warmth gained from R&B and house to the tighter rhythms and hard effects of Detroit techno.
