Twenty-four years ago today, the French House group Modjo released their iconic hit single ‘Lady (Hear Me Tonight)’. Comprised of guitarist Roman Tranchart and singer Yann Destagnol, this track quickly captivated audiences with its upbeat whimsical melody and fast beats clocking in at 128 bpm. ‘Lady (Hear Me Tonight)’ served as the lead single from their self-titled album, which ended up being the group’s only album, released under the MCA record label.
The single made an impressive debut, reaching #1 on the UK Charts and topping the charts in seven other European countries. In the US, it peaked at #8. Today, ‘Lady (Hear Me Tonight)’ remains the duo’s most streamed track on Spotify, accumulating over 476 million streams to date.
