Hi Renzo Zong, how are you?
Hey guys, I’m very good, very excited about this interview
Can you tell us about your earliest memories with music and what sparked your interest in becoming a DJ and Producer?
I was at a party and I saw a friend of mine putting CDs in a machine, I went over to ask him what he was doing. He said: “I’m playing music, I’m a DJ!”
that was more than 10 years ago!
Growing up, who were some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped the artist you are today?
From my mother’s belly, I’ve been listening to Carlos Santana! He combines Latin music with rock, marvelous! His music is like a meditative, deeply psychedelic journey that offers a bit of everything.
What was the moment when you realised that music could be more than just a passion – that it could be your career?
When I was able to travel to London to play at a festival. There was a person who listened to my music on Spotify and told me they produced a festival in London, and they invited me to go and play!
It was a beautiful thing, I didn’t have a booking agency or anything, so it was like an arrow to the heart.
Every artist has a unique sound – how would you describe yours, and what do you want listeners to feel when they hear your music?
I come from a country, with a lot of cultural richness, I come with all that background ready to shake the world. I’d like people to feel what I feel when I create music, I put a lot of soul and passion into it, and when people dance to my music, they always tell me that it feels different than anything else they have ever heard.
Was there a particular track or project that marked a turning point in your career? If so, what was the story behind it?
I collaborated in the elaboration of a mantra, with two other artists from Cuzco, this track led me to do my first tour in Europe ‘Shebrem’.
What’s your creative process like in the studio? Do you start with a melody, a beat, or a certain mood you’re trying to capture?
Sometimes I feel like a poet, there is always a story behind the songs I make, sometimes a prayer, sometimes a dedication, it can even be a message coming from beyond. I don’t have a specific order when I start, there is always a story to tell.
As both a DJ and Producer, how do you balance crafting music for the studio versus creating high-energy sets for the dancefloor?
When I’m creating music, I’m just another listener, who likes to feel emotions to what I’m listening to, who loves to dance, to move, to travel between spaces.
What’s been the most challenging part of your journey as an artist so far, and how did you overcome it?
I’m a father of two children, I have to balance a lot my family life, with my artistic life, I always learn something new.
The Electronic Music world is vast – are there any specific subgenres or sounds you’d like to experiment with that you haven’t yet?
I’d like to create some Drum and ass at some point, maybe some Progressive and Amapiano too.
Lastly, what’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects, releases, or shows on the horizon that your fans should know about?
In the last few months I have created over 10 songs, I’m more than ready and excited for everyone around the world to hear them.
