Paris-based, certified professional, creative and trauma-informed recovery coach Rose Romain today (Feb 1st) debuts her eye-opening and personal ‘Sober Stories’ project, the first episode features Detroit Native and Brooklyn Resident DJ, producer and songwriter Lauren Flax on the fourth-year anniversary of her sobriety. Other industry figures Rose chats to throughout the series include London-based DJ Santero, Kat Bailey, founder of global dance music and lifestyle PR agency The Mother Lode, Paris based techno/punk artist, producer, boss and DJ Louisahhh, DJ, producer, label boss and a rapidly rising force in the electronica world Ceri, and the legendary Tommie Sunshine – Chicago born DJ, activist, producer and remixer, an iconic figure in dance music who has collaborated with names such as Felix Da Housecat, Miss Kittin and Tomcraft and released on globally renowned labels including Spinnin’ and Armada.
A series of video interviews, ‘Sober Stories’ speaks in-depth and unfeignedly to the individuals at the heart of the dance music scene, delving deeper into their reasoning behind the change to their lifestyle. The interviews cover past traumas that may have triggered unhealthy habits, the effect of narcotics and alcohol on their mental health, how the switch to sobriety has impacted their creativity and much more.
A respected member of the MITC (Music Industry Therapists and Coaches Collective), Rose is on a mission to remove the stigma that surrounds the sober lifestyle choice within the music industry and beyond. With the ever-growing curiosity in the switch to sobriety, especially amongst Generation Z, Rose aims to empower the population to rise against the fragile “lad and ladette” culture that has been sold to society for so many years. Acutely aware of the unexpected pressures of 2020, which damaged many careers within the music industry and played havoc with many people’s mental health and addictions, Rose also hopes that by sharing the accounts of others, she will enable people to feel stronger in their steps toward sobriety, continuing the push on creativity and healthy self-relationships.
The first episode of ‘Sober Stories’ drops on February 1st at 2 pm GMT via Rose’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. This is the first in a line of upcoming projects from Rose in conjunction with her coaching facility, so be sure to follow her to stay updated.
