It was twenty years ago… Spinnin’ Records was founded in September 1999, and now celebrates 20 years of highlights, evolving from a small, club focused label to an internationally operating music company. This was recently launched with an exclusive series of artist videos, sharing their Spinnin’ highlights and favorite tracks throughout the years. Now, a very special celebration event is also announced, taking place December 6th in legendary Amsterdam club Paradiso.
Spinnin’ Records played a big part in the ever changing landscape of dance music. With new artists presented on a regular basis, as well as the label’s online dominance, reaching millions through its YouTube channel Spinnin’ TV (over 25 million subscribers), Instagram (3 million) and Facebook (6.6 million) the Dutch label gained strength and impact every year.
Hosting several sublabels (including Spinnin’ Deep, Tiësto‘s Musical Freedom, Oliver Heldens‘ Heldeep Records, Bingo Players‘ Hysteria and Sander van Doorn‘s DOORN Records) and releasing multiple singles every week, Spinnin’ Records has helped kickstart and extend the careers of many DJ’s, among them world famous artists like Bingo Players, Nicky Romero, Afrojack, Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix, Firebeatz, Oliver Heldens, DVVBS, Kris Kross Amsterdam, Cheat Codes, Lucas & Steve and Sam Feldt.
As a result, Spinnin’ has received widespread praise and acclaim, declared “Best International Label” several times throughout the years (including several years in a row at the International Dance Music Awards), while seeing many of its artists reach unimagined heights.
This was underlined with several milestones in 2019. In March, Spinnin’ TV reached the incredible amount of 25 million subscribers, while winning the International Dance Music Award (IDMA) for “Best YouTube channel” that same week. Last month, Spinnin’ won the award for “Best International Label” at the 1 Music Ave 2019 Awards in Fort Lauderdale, a renowned music industry gathering in the US. Meanwhile, other Spinnin’ channels also gained popularity, from 3 million followers on Instagram to reaching 250k followers on Chinese online platform Netease.
And then there were several international hit records released this year, including Sam Feldt‘s ‘Post Malone’ (feat. RANI), Yves V‘s ‘We Got That Cool’ (feat. Afrojack & Icona Pop), and LUM!X and Gabry Ponte‘s ‘Monster’ – reaching tens of millions streams a day.
In the meantime, artists Alok, Kris Kross Amsterdam and Sam Feldt each reached incredible amounts of 1 billion streams globally this year.
Also launched this anniversary year, Spinnin’ Originals in the shape of exclusive shows on YouTube. Beside music videos by some of the world’s most popular artists, Spinnin’ TV now also presents more entertainment, giving an inside look in the worlds of Spinnin‘s artists. This includes new programs like DJ Dilemmas, The Drop and Game Room.
New initiatives, perfectly emphasizing Spinnin‘s 20th birthday, now complemented by an exclusive video series of artists talking about their favorite Spinnin’ moments, as well as their favorite Spinnin’ tracks in specially created playlists.
On top of this, Spinnin’ will celebrate this birthday with a very special event, Friday December 6th in the legendary Amsterdam club Paradiso. It will be a journey through 20 years of Spinnin’ Records, with several favorite Spinnin’ artists performing, from seasoned veterans to rising stars, joining forces in unique B2B sets.
