Brooklyn-based, trans artist SRI is continuing her stream of massive hits with yet another intoxicating house hit ‘THIMIRU.’

The track is a rhythmic delight packed with perfect percussion that pairs with the thick bass line to make you want to move. It blends Indo-house with electro-pop in a seamless crossover that’s packed with culture and displays SRI’s production skills. The shifts in energy throughout the track are reflective of SRI’s diversity in productions as she has ventured into a variety of genres. There’s also a lot to enjoy with the vocals thanks to an excellent vocal performance combined with some cleverly used effects. ‘THIMIRU’ is a Tamil word often used negatively toward women, meaning audacity. SRI is reclaiming it and reframing it with this track, flipping the negative connotations of ‘audacity’ into a positive message of boldness and courage.

2024 was a massive breakout year for SRI with her earning over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone. The highpoint of her year came with the astonishing song ‘Nostalgia’ which has already cracked 60,000 streams. With her releasing hit after hit, she’s grown a sizeable fanbase which is persistently expanding thanks to her fantastic productions and DJing. SRI’s connection between her identity and her art is also something that has endeared her to her fans and made her music stand out.

‘THIMIRU’ is a wonderful sonic experience that acts as an excellent addiction to SRI’s diverse discography. She has continued to make a statement of empowerment through her music which is truly inspiring. Undoubtably ‘THIMIRU’ will build even more momentum for SRI in her rise through the music industry. If you’re not familiar with her music, go become familiar.

Hi I'm Mackenzie and rather unsurprisingly, I love electronic music. After over 10 years of blasting my ears with everything from Martin Garrix to San Holo, I've found myself forever digging deeper into this world. If I were to name my top 5 favourite artists I'd say Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, The Prodigy, Hardwell, and Avicii make up that list. Alongside writing I'm also a producer who makes whatever comes to mind. Big room house, drum & bass, hardstyle, it's all fun to dig into. See you out in the fields people :)
