STBAN, Varoc & Furia Drop ‘LUZ (Club Mix)’ on FLAMENCA Records: Varoc Interview

FLAMENCA Records bring their inaugural year to an end with a single that perfectly encapsulates the imprint’s mission. ‘LUZ (Club Mix)’ sees label boss STBAN join forces with Spanish stars Varoc and Furia for a collaboration that translates Vinnie Dollar’s original 2023 single through flamenco, electronica and trap, to stunning effect.

The original recording of LUZ by Vinnie Dollar has already clocked up an incredible 10 million views on YouTube alone. In this 2025 reworking the pace is turned up but the raw, Arabesque tones of Vinnie’s vocal remain just as evocative, providing a powerful backbone for the electronic elements to twist themselves around. The result is a perfect fusion of urban and electronica from Furia and youngster Varoc, with sultry shades of Flamenco House from FLAMENCA boss STBAN.

With so many different genres on display it could have easily turned into a muddled, disparate edit but the flawless production is instead testament to the shared vision of all four artists. As the vocal’s sentiment transcends language barriers, its combination with instrumentation provides an organic sense of movement, a crescendo of sound and emotion that bar by bar takes the track from the town square to the global dance floor.

The single is the final track of 2025 to drop from label boss STBAN. In the space of just six months, the DJ and producer has emphatically steered FLAMENCA Records onto the world stage. Eight singles, a major distribution deal with Toolroom Records, and FLAMENCA Live events at AirBeat One, Montreux Jazz Festival and Tantra Ibiza have combined to build some serious hype under one of Flamenco House music’s most passionate producers.

Furia, who runs label XTR Records, is renowned for his fusion of melodic and Afro-centred beats. Creating a dark, deep and melancholic body of work, his catalogue has amassed over 5 million streams on Spotify alone, earning him regular placements on top playlists around the world.

At the age of just 19 Varoc has already performed on some of the planet’s biggest stages, including Tomorrowland, BPM Costa Rica, Medusa, Weekend Festival and more. The teenager also hosts radio shows on Los 40 Dance and Ibiza Global Radio, one of the only artists to have shows on both. With the track dropping today, we thought it was high time we caught up with the talented teenager to find out more…

Varoc, welcome to EDM House Network! Can you tell us where you are right now and what you’re up to?

Hi, it’s a pleasure to have this interview with you. I’m Varoc, a DJ and producer from Madrid, Spain. I’m 19 years old and passionate about electronic music. I’ve performed over 200 DJ sets and I’m currently working on my new songs and productions.

In addition to Vinnie’s vocals, the track also features co-productions from Furia and STBAN, the head of FlamencaRecords. How do you approach a multi-collaboration like this and still make sure your own sound stands out?

Working with Furia and STBAN was key to this track. They’re both experienced producers and artists with strong creative visions. Their perspective helped us merge our different musical approaches into one cohesive and well-balanced concept.

You’ve been producing since you were 12. What was your first track, and what do you think when you listen back to it now?My first release was “No Limit’s.” When I listen to it now, it reminds me of my beginnings — a time full of curiosity, passion, and the drive to learn.

We have to say it — for 19, you’ve already achieved so much! Has electronic music always been your passion? What first drew you to it?

I’d say electronic music gives meaning to my life. From a very young age, it became my way of expressing creativity and emotion — both through mixing and through music production. It’s my escape, my purpose, and my way to connect with people.

Which producers and DJs do you look up to?

Right now, my main inspirations are Black CoffeeCalvin HarrisDavid GuettaHugelDiploFred Again, and many others. I also have a special connection with Andrea Oliva — I’ve had the opportunity to perform with him several times, opening his shows, and it’s always been an incredible experience.

You’ve performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Tomorrowland.
How was that experience, and will you be back next year?

I’ve experienced so many unforgettable moments in my career — real dreams come true.
Performing at Tomorrowland 2024 was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Traveling to Belgium and sharing the stage with some of the world’s top electronic artists was something I’ll never forget. Another highlight was performing this summer at A Summer Story, playing for more than 5,000 people and feeling a deep connection with the crowd. And just a few months ago, I had the chance to present my new track “Luz” at the Tomorrowland Store in Ibiza, one of the island’s most iconic spots.

You host a weekly radio show on two of Spain’s leading stations, Los 40 Dance and Ibiza Global Radio. How important is radio for introducing your sound to new fans, and how far do your sets reach around the world?

Very few DJs have a show on both Los 40 Dance and Ibiza Global Radio, and that pushes me to constantly search for the best new music. It allows listeners from Ibiza, Spain, and around the world to enjoy my sets each week. It’s also helped me build a strong presence on two of the most influential radio stations in the electronic and Ibiza scenes.

This is your first release on Flamenca Records. Do you feel the “flamenco house” sound is starting to grow outside of Spain?

Yes, definitely. There’s a growing trend of fusion between styles — more and more producers are experimenting with cultural and sonic blends, creating new genres that connect with audiences across different countries.

You’re about to leave your teenage years behind. Where do you see yourself by the end of your twenties?

Honestly, I try to focus on the present — enjoying each moment, each song, each show…
and letting myself be guided by energy and music.

New EDM Friday May 15 brings new music from Martin Garrix, Ed Sheeran, David Guetta, Alesso, and more.

New EDM Friday May 15 brings together major collaborations, new EPs, album releases, and records made for clubs and festival sets, covering house, techno, bass, and crossover electronic music. From Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran to David Guetta and MARTEN HØRGER, HI-LO, James Hype, and Sub Zero Project, these are the tracks you should not miss on this week’s New EDM Friday.

Martin Garrix, Ed Sheeran – Repeat It

Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran finally release Repeat It, a collaboration that dates back to 2014 and became one of the most requested unreleased tracks in modern EDM. Martin Garrix first played the song during his Ultra Music Festival Miami 2015 set, where it circulated among fans for years under the title Rewind Repeat It. The track was later held back through label-related delays, while live rips and fan uploads kept it part of Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran lore for more than a decade. Now released in a reworked form under the title Repeat It, the track closes a 12-year wait and gives this week’s New EDM Friday one of its biggest talking points.

Alesso, JOA – Turn Up The Bass

Alesso teams up with JOA on Turn Up The Bass, a new release on Body Hi, the house-focused label connected to Alesso’s recent run of club records. The track was teased ahead of release through Alesso’s own channels, where he posted that he and JOA had teamed up on the record before its Friday drop. Early clips also linked the track to Ultra Miami, where the ID had already started circulating before its official release. With Tyree Cooper also credited on the track, Turn Up The Bass brings Alesso back into a more direct house lane after years of moving between festival records, pop collaborations, and his newer Body Hi releases.

David Guetta, MARTEN HØRGER – Men Machine EP

David Guetta and MARTEN HØRGER launch their new joint project Men Machine with a five-track EP on Spinnin’ Records. The project was first introduced live at Coachella 2026, where MARTEN HØRGER joined David Guetta on the Quasar Stage to play new material from the EP. Before its release, David Guetta said the tracks had been tested across their Ibiza residency and at Coachella, giving the project a live history before the official drop. Following their 2023 collaboration The Freaks, Men Machine gives David Guetta and MARTEN HØRGER a dedicated project built around darker electro, techno, and synth-led club music.

Max White – Warrior

Max White releases Warrior, a track that follows the Miami-based DJ and producer’s recent run of tech house and bassline-led records. Public info around the release is limited, but Max White uploaded an extended demo version of Warrior to SoundCloud on May 7, giving the track an early preview before its wider New Music Friday push. His official artist bio and Resident Advisor profile describe his background as a former Formula 4 race car driver and connect his music to tech house, driving basslines, melodic synths, and club-focused production. With Warrior, Max White keeps that direction intact, placing the record in the same lane as the heavier house material he has been developing across his recent releases.

Kaleena Zanders – Anything Goes (Album)

Kaleena Zanders releases Anything Goes, her debut album, through Helix Records. The seven-track project includes The Light with Shift K3Y, Can You Imagine with Bipolar Sunshine, Who We Are with Hayley May, and Thinking of Yesterday with NO BILLS, alongside solo tracks such as Anything Goes, Call Out My Name, and Stronger Than Machines. Kaleena Zanders has spent years moving between vocalist, songwriter, DJ, and producer roles, with earlier dance music credits including SNBRN’s California and her 2024 GLORIFIED EP. With Anything Goes, Kaleena Zanders puts her own name at the center of a full-length release after a long run of singles, collaborations, and club records.

Axel Boy – Shangri-La (EP)

Axel Boy releases Shangri-La EP through Deadbeats, with the project led by three tracks: Pressure Dub, Beat Down, and Shangri-La. The EP was announced through Deadbeats with a May 15 release date, while Axel Boy also teased the project across his own channels ahead of release. The Bristol-based producer has kept his work close to dubstep, bass house, and darker club sounds across releases on labels including Circus Records, UKF, and Deadbeats. With Shangri-La EP, Axel Boy keeps that direction tight, pairing low-end bass pressure with a more direct dubstep structure across the project.

Levity – Neon Soul

Levity release Neon Soul, another track connected to their Escapism, Vol. 2 rollout. The Chicago electronic trio had already played the track during recent live sets, including Coachella 2026, where footage of Neon Soul started spreading before its official release. Levity also teased the song through their own channels ahead of Friday, framing it as one of the next records from the new project. Following earlier tracks such as Flip It, ONE FOR YOU, Postman, Heartbreak, and Pop Off, Neon Soul keeps Levity close to bass music while giving the release a more melodic hook than some of their heavier festival material.

Dansyn & Dox – Work It Out

Dansyn returns just in time for summer with his latest single alongside Dox, ‘Work It Out’, arriving via Sidepiece’s Lip Service. Built for both late night dancefloors and gym weight rooms, the track delivers a seductive blend of driving house rhythms, fun vocals, and a pumping bassline.

Sir Ivan, Top 10 Billboard and Music Week Recording Artist, has released a new track, this time appointing Giuseppe D. for a remix of his January single, Love Is The Piece. At his core, Sir Ivan is a philanthropist and advocate, with his work within the music space serving as a further extension of that identity. Giuseppe D. Joins The Love Is The Piece Remix Campaign

In this latest release, Sir Ivan seeks to expand the reach of his sentiments further, welcoming the opportunity to set his message within a fresh sonic framework. The Emotional Side of Dance Music Still Exists — And MC4D’s Debut Album Proves It

Emotional storytelling has always existed in dance music, but few artists are approaching it quite like this right now…

A post shared by MC4D (@mc4dmusic)

On their debut album COMPASS, MC4D blends folk-inspired songwriting, acoustic instrumentals, and melodic sounds into a project that feels both nostalgic and completely their own. Across the album, the brother duo leans fully into the emotional, Americana-inspired sound they’ve quietly made their signature over the years — and the result feels immersive from start to finish.

For me, there are moments throughout COMPASS that tap into the same emotional space that Avicii’s music makes me feel — the kind of feeling that instantly pulls me back and reminds me why I fell in love with electronic music in the first place.

That feeling comes through most clearly on Hey Son’, which feels like a subtle nod to Hey Brother’ — made even more full-circle by Aloe Blacc’s feature on the track.

The emotional warmth carries throughout the rest of the album too. Tracks like “Still Got Time” and “Lay Your Head” continue leaning into the album’s folk-inspired songwriting and melodic atmosphere, while songs like “Afterlife” (my personal fav) bring some of the album’s biggest emotional highs without losing the grounded, personal feeling that makes the project work so well.

There’s also something incredibly visual about the way COMPASS sounds. A lot of these songs feel like late summer nights, mountain drives, festival sunsets, old memories, and the kind of moments you wish you could stay in a little longer.

More than anything, COMPASS feels like an album made by artists who fully understand their identity. Nothing here feels trend-chasing or manufactured for the sake of fitting into a specific moment in dance music. MC4D knows exactly what kind of emotion they want these songs to carry, and that confidence is what makes the album resonate so deeply from start to finish.

Between its folk-inspired storytelling, emotional warmth, and immersive atmosphere, MC4D has created a debut album that feels both timeless and completely their own. If you’re looking for something that reconnects you with the emotional side of dance music, COMPASS is absolutely worth the listen.
