As part of their recent 2021 VMAs performance, legendary dance trio Swedish House Mafia teased a collaboration with The Weeknd. After performing previous releases ‘It Gets Better’ and ‘Lifetime’, the trio cued up an immersive intro, before The Weeknd‘s vocal lines were heard. “Like a moth to a flame” sang the Canadian superstar, before the snippet was cut short, fuelling the anticipation for what a collaboration of this caliber might sound like.
The Weeknd confirmed the collaboration by posting the same snippet on his Instagram account, along with the clip from Swedish House Mafia‘s performance. Fans have been speculating that a collaboration between the two names might come sooner rather than later, especially since Swedish House Mafia recently signed with The Weeknd‘s manager Wassim “Sal” Slaiby. The Weeknd also announced that his next album is almost finished, and listed Swedish House Mafia as a musical inspiration for it in a recent installment of his Memento Mori show on Apple Music.
