The Forgotten Mystery of Shaun Frank’s Time (Blinders Remix) – What Changed From The Destined Remix & The Released Original?

Polish DJ & Producer Blinders (current resident artist on STMPD) was discovered by Axwell & pushed him onto his label Axtone many years prior. He is now on the rise with his current releases going strong in STMPD; with previous rosters on Revealed, Kid Coconut, DOORN, Armada, Skink & many more, which most of them have been no less unimpressive. Today, I will be discussing the alleged remix of Shaun Frank’s release TIME which was remixed by the man himself, and how it became an original released on a different label.

The original track from Shaun was released in 2015 on Steve Angello’s SIZE Records which ended up being a fairly classic house track. As for Blinders remix, it was first played on Kryder’s podcast, with a radically different style and more of electro groovy funk.  The remix is less powerful but energetic at the same time, which was a typical Blinder’s signature tune for the time. The release date was quite intriguing since Shaun or Blinders didn’t comment on when it’d be officially coming.

What actually happened was the remix was converted into a different theme which ended up being a single release under a different title and became ‘You Don’t Know’, and was released surprisingly on Protocol a year after Shaun Frank’s original release date.

Now in comparison of the two, the samples or the stems involved the old remix and the new original don’t have a huge difference, apart from one of the drops which made it sound like the remix could have been released.  It’ll still be a mystery on why the remix was cancelled despite receiving heavy support from Kryder & his Kryteria Podcast playing numerous times.Recently, Blinders has crafted his style in a way that makes him a bit more supreme on Martin Garrix’s dutch imprint STMPD. But the question of the old remix for  Shaun Frank’s Time will always remain a mystery since it wasn’t released the way we intended it to be.
