After the tragic events of Avicii‘s death back in April 2018, many of his unreleased tracks slowly but surely started surfacing, thanks to frequent leaks. Tim’s posthumous album ‘TIM’ featured some of his most recent work before he passed away with notable collaborations together with Imagine Dragons, frequent Martin Garrix collaborator Bonn, and one of his best friends, Aloe Blacc with whom he concocted his most famous hit ever, ‘Wake Me Up’.
On December 5th, 2019 the Tim Bergling Foundation organized a tribute event for the Swedish maestro and they put together a lineup with some of his best musical compatriots throughout his life. Some of those names were Kygo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, and much more.
One of the most prominent moments of the night was when David Guetta played an ID him, Avicii, and Afrojack put together years ago. However, they only made the instrumental and the week Tim passed away David decided that he and one of his songwriters should write some emotional lyrics to put on the top of the aforementioned beat. That beautiful night was the first and the last time David played it.
The track itself is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. The signature Avicii plucks are everpresent and they serve as a solid background for Amanda Wilson‘s exquisite vocals. The lyrics talk about the regret of a person who didn’t have enough time to say or do the things he/she intended and thus they leave the physical world knowing they won’t be able to take the chance anymore. After the vocals, the melody slowly but surely introduces itself and just shows how simple yet magical this production actually is. Afterward, a brief buildup takes place and the drop kicks in moments since.
Although we won’t hear this track getting played ever again we can only cherish everything Tim has done for us, for the music industry, for the world. Mental health has always been a serious problem, not just in the entertainment industry but in life in general. It’s best to push the brakes if things go wrong and take a moment and clear the mind so we can continue with our endeavors safe and sound.
