Topic And A7S Reunite For ‘Kernkraft 400 (A Better Day)’!

Following on from their monstrous collaboration ‘Your Love (9PM)’ and its 1 billion streams, Topic and A7S revisit another all-time dance classic on their powerful follow-up ‘Kernkraft (A Better Day)’.

‘Kernkraft (A Better Day)’ is based around the legendary melody from Zombie Nation’s 1999 smash ‘Kernkraft 400’—itself a rework of a theme tune from a 1984 computer game. It’s a riff that can be heard playing out in sports stadiums around the world to this day, but this duo have flipped it in a surprising new way and breathed new life into it. A7S’ powerful vocals propel the track over Topic’s brooding melodic techno production, leading us to the breakdown where his refrain mimics that melody, before the riff itself drops into play in all its glory. Soft piano chords provide a melancholy counterpoint before the drop pushes us into stadium anthem territory.

On the collaboration, Topic says: “I am happy that Alex and I are finally back with another track. Working on the release together was really uncomplicated and felt really natural; especially as we have become close friends over the last couple of years. When we were first working on this song, we wanted to address the pandemic and statingthat one day the bad days are over and that we can now look forward to ‘A Better Day’, but now it fits even more as the war is happening. Maybe the song can give the hope that is needed right now.”

A7S adds: “Tobi and I work together a lot and we started the idea for the song in Dubai where we both now live. Immediately it felt quite special; we’ve always had a love for the ‘Kernkraft 400’ melody. The process was quick andwe decided to go with the first verse, pre and chorus ideas that materialised. It feels so good to finally release something again with Topic since we’ve become such close friends through our musical journey.”

Topic is one of the biggest names in dance music, with over 1 billion streams to his name in 2021 alone. He received a huge accolade this year in being nominated for the BRIT Awards for Best International Song for ‘Your Love (9PM)’ and adds collaboration with fellow German stars Robin Schulz, Nico Santos, and Paul van Dyk ‘In Your Arms (For An Angel)’, and newly added summer jam ‘Solo Para Ti’ featuring Alvaro Soler to his endless list of hits. Having recently finished a hugely successful Australia tour, Topic now heads into a huge season with dates coming up this summer at the very biggest festivals like Tomorrowland, Parookaville, Nameless and Airbeat One. He has also collaborated with the likes of Lil Baby and Bebe Rexha, as well as with Becky Hill on ‘My Heart Goes (La Di Da)’, and Clean Bandit and Wes Nelson on ‘Drive’. Both tracks were added to the Radio 1 playlist and featured in the Top 20 of the UK charts at the same time.  Swedish talent A7S counts over 4 billion streams to his name, with tracks including his huge smash hit with Lil Baby ‘Why Do You Lie To Me’ and his recent solo single ‘Nirvana’. With number 1 tracks in Germany, China, and his home country Sweden, and a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Dance / Electronic Song thanks to his ‘Breaking Me’ collab with Topic, he is fast becoming one of the hottest vocalists in the world.
