Remixing can be a tough craft, but when it comes off, it can bring any track to another level and please some completely different fans of different electronic dance music genres. American artist Trueblue took on the difficult duty of remixing one of the most iconic tracks of all time. Trueblue takes his signature dance sound and puts it to work on the classic ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’ by Belinda Carlisle.
Trueblue kicks off this remix with subtle synth work that are quickly joined by the original vocals. He gives the original vocals space to breathe for the first moments before he flips the script and adds his own style. As the track progresses, Trueblue adds risers and builds anticipation for the drop. Once it hits, we are not disappointed as the vocals are joined by uplifting top line synths and powerful bass lines.
Speaking about this remix, Trueblue said: “I wanted this remix to feel like Stranger Things met the sweaty dance floor at a fraternity party, without all of the fist bumping awkwardness. The chord progression in this song is iconic, and the key change before the third drop is legendary, providing the perfect interlude for a Phil Collins-esque drum line.”
