Insomniac Records gives rise to official remix package of UFO Project’s liquid drum & bass single ‘New Dawn’, featuring takes from Westend, Hidden Face, Truth x Lies, and Rainier + Grimm.
At the tail-end of summer, the Spanish duo known as UFO Project set their Insomniac Records label debut into orbit with the release of ‘New Dawn’, a soulful and mood-boosting drum & bass offering featuring an immensely optimistic vocal delivery from UK songstress Leo Wood. Now a few months out, the radiant vibes of their glowing single is finding itself on the horizon yet again with an official remix EP pulling the record into more house-friendly pastures.
The four-track package emanates with an array of heart-warming renditions. NYC’s Westend embraces a deep yet driving vibe, which sails through hazy chord stabs and chuggy basslines. French producer Hidden Face creeps into the frame with an enthralling progressive framework, with cascading melodies propping up pitched-down vocals.
Truth x Lies picks up the pace with their take, a thumping tech-house groove bolstered by chunky basslines, robust drums, and a shimmering synth lead. Lastly, the Toronto-based duo Rainier + Grimm strips things down to create a garage-leaning remix focused on staccato piano chords and sped-up vocals gliding across a bed of broken rhythms.
“It was exciting to work with a drum and bass record as most of my remixes stem from the house world. Leo’s vocal are very enchanting so I knew I wanted to keep those relatively unscathed. I ended up going in a darker more captivating direction but still something that can be played at peak time.”
