Viva Acid Pays Homage to Chicago’s Acid House Scene with 4th Annual Talks and Workshops series

Chicago focused event organizers and cultural pioneers Viva Acid return for their highly anticipated fourth season. Celebrating Chicago’s vibrant Acid House scene and community from October 3rd – 6th at the Podlasie Club, in the city where it all began.

Spread across four days, Viva Acid will be hosting a series of accessible events, workshops and conversations that foster creativity and further inspire innovation.

Viva Acid 2024 champions collaboration and the development of deep belonging within our creative community. This year’s theme is transcending scarcity to build resilient, flourishing ecosystems through collective creativity. At a time where the path to success is ever-changing, these talks act as a reminder of the foundations the house music scene was built on, and the importance of connection in breaking through the noise.

Across the four days, talks will cover a range of industry subjects, from ‘Maximizing Reach’ to ‘Marketing Authenticity’, while workshops will focus on production, with topics including ‘Approaching Remixing’ and ‘Creating What You Hear’. Attendees to the event will receive immense value and knowledge from pioneers of the scene such as Gene Farris, DJ Hyperactive, Radio Slave, Glenn Underground and countless more.

Thursday 3rd will also see the premiere of ‘Children Of Acid’. The deep-dive documentary, produced by Viva Acid in partnership with production company Baffe, catalogs the rich tapestries of Chicago’s vibrant rave scene – a must see for anyone interested in the history and emergence of acid house.

It wouldn’t be a Acid House music conference without performances, and the line-up for Viva 2024’s parties is equally as impressive. Watch acts such as Radio Slave, Flores Negras, Lauren Flax b2b DJ Slugo, Steve Noah, Microdot, Glenn Underground and many more take to the stage, showcasing the skill that saw them rise to the top of their scene.

At a time when the goalposts are constantly changing and burgeoning artists can sometimes lose sight of music at the center of what they do, Viva Acid’s schedule is a timely reminder of the solid foundations on which the scene was built upon for those looking to make a real impact with their music.
