David Guetta Is Back With New Single ‘When We Were Young’ With Kim Petras!

Following smash hits ‘I’m Good’ and ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’David Guetta is back alongside GRAMMY-winning, critically-acclaimed popstar Kim Petras with his hotly anticipated new single ‘When We Were Young’.

A futuristic banger that thematically looks to the past, ‘When We Were Young’ is a high BPM stormer, incorporating hyperpop influences and classic 90s piano into David Guetta’s peerless sound. “When we were young it seemed that life was so wonderful”, goes the earworm chorus, with Kim Petras providing the nostalgic verses about the innocence of youth. Crafting the track around a pitched-up interpolation of Supertramp’s classic ‘The Logical Song’, the French mastermind is sure to strike gold once again with this new smash collaboration.

The hits never stop for David Guetta. Earlier this year he also conquered the global airwaves with the megahit ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’ featuring the two pop megastars Anne-Marie and Coi Leray. It arrived as the hotly anticipated follow-up to Spotify global #1 and streaming monster, ‘I’m Good (Blue)’. The track earned Guetta his eleventh Grammy nomination, receiving a nod for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording’, has garnered 2.2 billion global streams, charted at #1 on the official charts across 11 markets, and peaked at #1 at US Top 40 & US Dance Radio charts.

Guetta hasn’t stopped there. Earlier this month he released ‘Big FU’ with Ayra Starr and Lil Durk, following his September Zara Larsson collaboration ‘On My Love’, already fast approaching 30 million streams, while earlier in the summer there were singles with MORTENBebe RexhaShouse and more. Not to mention his remix work: in 2023 alone, he’s released smash reworks of cassöRAYE and D-Block Europe’s ‘Prada’ with Hypaton, and Tony Touch’s ‘Apaga La Luz’ to name just a couple.

German singer-songwriter Kim Petras has exploded onto the scene in recent years, hitting big with her monster single ‘Unholy’ with Sam Smith. The chart-topping song quickly became one of 2022’s top pop debuts, earning Kim her first GRAMMY and skyrocketing to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Billboard Global 200, the worldwide charts on Spotify and Apple Music, and the UK Official Singles Chart. Marking a historic first in LGBTQ+ chart and GRAMMY history, ‘Unholy’ saw Kim and Sam become the first openly transgender solo artist and non-binary solo artist, respectively, to ascend to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and are also the first to receive a GRAMMY in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Following their MTV EMA win for ‘Video for Good’, Kim and Sam received the ‘Innovator of the Year’ Award at the Variety Hitmakers event.

David Guetta has skyrocketed to one of the most streamed artists on Spotify globally, with over 42 billion global streams and selling over 50 million records worldwide. In his career he has been voted the world’s best DJ in the coveted DJ Mag ‘Top 100’ poll three times, and is one of the most successful streamed artists, reaching top position across iTunes charts over 113 countries and achieving over 24 million global Spotify followers.

Earlier this year, the international icon won the ‘Dance Song of The Year’ award for his latest smash ‘I’m Good’ at the IHeartRadio Music Awards, where he was also previously named ‘Dance Act of the Year’. He also recently received awards for ‘Best Electronic Act’ at this year’s MTV EMAs‘DJ of the Year’ at the NRJ Music Awards, ‘Producer of the Year’ at the Brits and #1 Producer by 1001Tracklists, continuing to cement his status at the very top of the DJ pile.
