Headlining the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre with his “Botas Y Rave” tour, Deorro delivered a major surprise for long-time fans.

Before taking the stage as the global headliner audiences know today, he opened his own headline performance and revived a previous alias: DJ TON!C.

Honoring Cultural Heritage and Dance Floor Origins

The “Botas Y Rave” concept has already made waves across the touring circuit as a celebration of cultural fusion. The tour bridges the gap between heritage and modern EDM by blending traditional Mexican instrumentation and rhythms with dance music energy.

Yet, bringing DJ TON!C back to the booth shifted the spotlight toward another foundational chapter of his identity: his musical upbringing. By stepping out under his former moniker, Deorro turned Red Rocks into an epicenter of late-2000s and early-2010s festival nostalgia.

The Era of DJ TON!C: Where Dirty Dutch Meets Street Energy

Long before chart-topping anthems like “Five Hours” and “Perdóname,” 14-year-old Erick Orrosquieta was starting his journey on CDJs across backyard parties and warehouse sets in Los Angeles. Operating as DJ TON!C, he became a local icon. He channeled the aggressive sound of Dirty Dutch and Melbourne-inspired basslines tailored for shuffling circles.

Tracks and bootlegs of that era were raw and unpretentious. They were designed with one objective: unstoppable dance floor movement. While the transition from DJ TON!C to Deorro in 2012 marked a major artistic evolution, the DNA of his early production style never truly vanished.

A Powerful Case for the Golden Era’s Longevity

The reception at Red Rocks proved that demand for unbridled energy of Dirty Dutch and classic Big Room remains vibrant. Rather than treating DJ TON!C as a relic of the past, the crowd met the aggressive synths and vintage drum arrangements with immense support. This further validated that early club sounds still hold massive contemporary appeal.

Whether the rare appearance signals a comeback for DJ TON!C or serves simply as an exclusive gift to day-one fans, the performance revealed an essential truth: Deorro has never lost touch with where he started.

Opening his own headline show under his original alias was not just nostalgic showmanship, it was a full-circle triumph.
