Written and produced by Kevin Saunderson and Dantiez Saunderson, the release brings together two generations of the Saunderson family. Positivity Brings House, Soul and Vocal Energy Together

Combining uplifting songwriting with Inner City’s electronic foundations, Positivity taps into house, soul and vocal energy. Those elements have defined the group throughout nearly four decades of music. Steffanie Christi’an’s vocal stays central to the track, while Kevin Saunderson and Dantiez Saunderson handle the production.

The first Positivity package also brings Todd Terry into the release with his KMS Dub alongside the Original Mix. Then, on November 6, a second package adds the Todd Terry Mix and Todd Terry Remix Edit. A remix from Detroit house mainstay Chuck Daniels and an Edit of the original complete the package.

Nearly Four Decades of Inner City

Formed by Detroit pioneer Kevin Saunderson in 1987, Inner City helped take the emerging sound of Detroit to an international audience. Their early records Big Fun and Good Life came from the platinum-selling debut album Paradise. Both became global hits and remain defining records in electronic music.

Across their career, Inner City have sold more than six million records worldwide. They have also landed nine UK Top 40 singles and scored five number-one records on the US Billboard Dance chart.

Today, Inner City brings together Kevin Saunderson and Dantiez Saunderson alongside Detroit vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. Their music continues to draw from Detroit techno, house, soul and R&B, while connecting the group’s foundations with a new generation.

KMS Records Approaches Its 40th Anniversary

The release also comes as Kevin Saunderson’s KMS Records approaches its 40th anniversary in 2027. A major year of activity is planned for the Detroit act and its associated imprint, highlighting Inner City’s impact over four decades of dance music.

Positivity featuring Steffanie Christi’an is out now via Inner City Detroit, with the second remix package following on November 6.
