LUNAX Talks With Us About Her New Single, Starting Her Career During The Pandemic, Her Message For Female Artists & More!

LUNAX, who is just 19 years old, has become the most successful German slap house artist in the music industry. On streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music, she was not only featured in the world’s largest playlists but has also graced the covers of several high-ranking playlists across various platforms. To celebrate the release of her brand new single ‘Rooftop’ on Beat Dealer Records, we had the pleasure of speaking with LUNAX on a number of topics.

Hey LUNAX, thanks for taking the time to chat with us, how are you doing today?
Hey, the pleasure is mine – I’m doing great, thanks! And I’m super excited about the release!

Let’s kick things off with your brand new single ‘Rooftop’, how happy are you with the finished product?
I’m super excited about ‘Rooftop’. I worked a lot to make it perfect and put all the energy into it that I want to pass on to my fans. It was also a pleasure to work with Christin Pohl, who wrote and sang the lyrics. She also wrote my song ‘Safe & Sound’ together with HUTS.

This single holds a message that feeling lonely doesn’t have to be a negative thing. Is this a mantra that you hold closely in your life
Absolutely! I am a very happy person, but of course I also have days when I am not well and I doubt myself. On the other hand, I can use these moments to draw a lot of strength from them and find new motivation.

Staying hopeful and positive can be quite a tough thing to do, would you have any advice for people going through a tough time?
Of course, it always depends on the personal situation and I can only speak about myself, but it helps me to remember that I’m not alone with this feeling and try to focus on the positive things in my life and keep in mind what I have already achieved.

The genre of slap house has gone on to dominate the streaming and radio waves. How does it feel to be the leading female act within this music style?
It always sounds unreal to me and it is absolutely crazy. It all happened so incredibly fast. But I’m very proud of it and happy that so many people like my music and listen to it every day. I get a lot of messages from my fans telling me how much they love to party and dance to it. That’s amazing!

In an industry dominated by male artists, how important is it for you to put your own name out there and tell other females with the same dreams to do it?
I am proud of what I have achieved and it is important to me to show that your achievement has nothing at all to do with your gender. If I can encourage other women to take a step into this industry, well, that’s great. We need a lot more of us, I dare you to!

The pandemic was a tough time for the music industry but was the catalyst for your career being launched. How did it help you take that first step?
I wouldn’t say that situation is what helped me to get where I am now. I’m glad I got through it in spite of the situation, but I don’t think it gave me any particular advantage to take that first step. However, what helped me was, of course, the livestreams that I did. That was a very good preparation before I did the live performances.

As we move out of the pandemic, what are you looking forward to the most about your career that hasn’t been possible since the launch?
A lot of touring, traveling, meeting fans and hugging them! I can’t wait to be on the road.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, do you have anything you’d like to announce with our readers?
Thanks, enjoyed talking with you guys. There are a lot of plans this year and I take you with me on my social media channels. Of course, I would be more than happy to welcome you at my gigs. I’m glad if you like ‘Rooftop’ as much as I do, also can’t stop listening to the track and have a lot of fun with it. If you are not doing well right now, I hope it gives you energy to look forward. Whatever that may be, you will get through it.
