Released 5 Years Ago: Otto Knows & Avicii – Back Where I Belong

A track from two artists who met while they were kids in school and became childhood friends. This friendship grew over the years as the pair would find themselves enjoying the same music along with entering the world of DJing and producing. It wasn’t long before both artists made their stamp on the dance music scene with the solo releases of ‘Levels’ and ‘Million Voices’. At the peak of their careers, the pair decided they would come together in the studio, and on the 3rd of June, 2016, Otto Knows and Avicii unveiled ‘Back Where I Belong’.

Having previously gone under the radar with the release of ‘iTrack’ and ‘LoopeDe’ alongside Tim Berg (Avicii) and Oliver IngrossoOtto Knows burst onto the scene with ‘Million Voices’ and never looked back. He quickly added to the momentum with the releases of ‘Parachute’, ‘Can’t Stop Drinking About You’, and ‘Next To You’. Thanks to his talents in the studio, his live sets were taken to the next level and he had to pleasure of gracing worldwide stages such as TomorrowlandUshuaia Ibiza, and London’s Alexandra Palace.

When you’re one of the most recognizable DJs and producers in the world; when you’ve sold millions of records, had billions of downloads and 11 billion streams, bested the globe’s biggest stages and worked your way from upstart to celebrated icon, your life looks like a blockbuster movie – from the outside. On the inside, Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, who is naturally shy, struggled with life on the road. Even as international chart-toppers ‘Levels’ and ‘Wake Me Up’  catapulted him to brighter stardom, he became an ever more elusive character of dance music myth. The unfortunate news of his death on the 20th of April 2018 sent shockwaves through the entire music industry and we are still feeling the effects to this day.
