Released 8 Years Ago: Martin Garrix – Animals

One of Martin Garrix’s monumental hits and definitely one of the most influential dance tunes of the past decade, ‘Animals’ was released back in 2013 via Spinnin’ and has amassed a staggering 1.5 billion views on YouTube at the time of writing. Showcasing a minimal dance aesthetic that was really unique at the time, the massive track undoubtedly propelled the virtually unknown producer and DJ into EDM stardom, while inspiring an entire wave of big room bangers that were to dominate the EDM world over the coming years.

After blowing up, ‘Animals’ went on to top a number of electronic singles charts, as well as reach #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Martin Garrix the first artist to enter the Top 40 with an instrumental since Kenny G in 1999.

Martin Garrix has risen to global stardom in pop as well as electronic circles – and yet he’s far from being done. Dance music’s freshest talent has headlined festivals around the globe, founded a label and mentored other artists and won the #1 spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 three times in a row. His passion, ambition, drive and maturity remain unmatched in the world.
