For as long as electronic dance music has been in existence, sampling and remixing has been a big part of it. Major superstar artists such as Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim have proved that when used right, sampling can be a major key to success. Many artists are now looking towards alternative music such as pop and r&b to gain inspiration, leading to many new remixes and cover versions of popular songs. The duo of The Kith have been making waves with their recent productions.
The Kith are an up-and-coming DJ duo consisting of two brothers born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Being relative newcomers into the scene, what The Kith lack in experience, they make up for in talent and when you listen to their music you can see their potential. Having previously impressed with releases such as ‘Tell Me Why’ and ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’, the Dutch duo are back once again with their version of ‘New Rules’ by Dua Lipa.
‘Rules’ is a tremendous single within the slap house genre that is booming at the moment. The Kith utilize female vocals to bring a sense of familiarity but they combine it with some atmospheric tones that blend perfectly. They subtly build towards the drop but when it comes around we are blown away. Driving powerful bassline synths then take center stage and top this single off perfectly. With more new music promised in the coming months, The Kith are definitely a duo to keep your eyes on.
