Hi Angel, how are you doing?
I think I’m doing okay, haha. I was taking some time off from mixing at the studio. Resting my ears a bit.
What do you enjoy doing to relax?
It varies, but usually you’ll catch me playing guitar or hitting the batting cages. I also love watching movies and, of course, SLEEPING!
Got any fun facts about yourself you’d like to share?
Oh man! Here it goes:
Sometimes when I’m surrounded by people who don’t know me, I like to behave like I don’t speak english at all, only Spanish. Trust me, it’s very interesting what they talk about when they think they aren’t being listened to.
I learned English by translating a couple of albums of Guns N’ Roses + other ones from Snoop Dogg, hahaha. Yep, my accent and vocabulary were very interesting during that process.
When I moved to LA, I realized that “Happy Hour” was part of the culture here. I didn’t have enough cash to even afford a happy hour, really, but I wanted to meet new people and socialize. So, basically, I would ask for a glass of water, and just squeeze a couple of fruits from the options they had on the counter top, and add some of them without squeezing in my drink to make it look like a random cocktail haha. I got away with that many many times and I made many friends.
How would you describe your perfect weekend?
Having 2 gigs. I prefer Friday shows to be more chill. Then prior to the show, I’ll get a great dinner at a restaurant, Asian or Mediterranean, or see a movie.
Saturdays, I love a beach day, or play some outdoor sport with friends, maybe some Mimosas or Mezcal Margaritas after, take a nap, then off to a Saturday night gig.
Sunday, gym, then be lazy all day watching movies.
Do you have any fun pastimes?
I love watching paranormal TV shows or exploration TV shows. I also love watching interviews of people who have succeeded in life. I love reading or watching about their stories and biographies.
Are you into sports? If so, which kind and do you follow any teams?
Oh man, I used to really love to watch sports. I played baseball a lot when I was younger, but life kind of got too busy at some point that I just gave up most of it. I only get extremely fanatic about the soccer or baseball world cups, when they happen.
Do you have any pets?
Not currently, but I used to. Back in Venezuela, we had a big house. My dad used to have a couple of big fields and warehouses where he would recycle aluminum, melt it, and make aluminum bars to sell internationally. A lot of people tried to get into these fields and steal the metal to then come back the next day and sell it back to you haha, our planet . In order to protect these fields/warehouses full of aluminum, my dad had to guard them not only with security but also with dogs, Dobermans and Rottweilers. When one of these dogs had puppies, my dad would bring them home because the adult dogs were trained to be so aggressive that they sometimes would hurt the puppies. So, there was a time in my childhood where there were 6 Dobermans and 7 Rottweilers between the front and backyard of the house . So, yeah, I’m a little hesitant to have pets now, since I had to clean up their poop and wash them all in order to get money to go to the movies with my friends .
What’s your favorite movie? What do you like about it?
I have a couple of favorite movies: War Dogs, John Wick, The Shawshank Redemption, Dark Knight. But there is one movie, specifically, that I watched years after it was released that changed my point of view about movies, life, and musically. I liked it so much that I did an original cover of its soundtrack, INTERSTELLAR. It might sound very weird, but Interstellar is a movie that matched my way of thinking about the universe and many other things. It also raised more questions I never thought of about me, us, and the universe, and that’s very exciting to me. When I made my own cover of the Interstellar soundtrack, I had to add a lot of trippy, dreamy, creepy sounds to the song. I was trying to express and match all these thoughts I had prior and after watching that movie. I remember I showed it to my dad who never watched the movie, and I asked him “what does it make you think of or feel?”, he said, “makes me feel like I’m either out exploring space, the universe, with no time and space barriers, or I’m out exploring the ocean with no dangers.” Pow!!! Nailed it! Hahaha. I hope you guys like my track; it’s available now on Beatport and all the platforms.
What are some of your top destinations to go for vacation?
Aruba & Croatia. I like many other places, but those 2 are the ones that as of today mean a lot to me.
If you had 1 million dollars, what would you spend it on and why?
I would find something exciting to invest in. I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to numbers and I love business. So, I would find a way to make that money work for me, without really having to ever take it out of the bank, but use it as leverage.
If you had to pick 3 people to bring to a deserted island, who would that be and why?
I would say my mom, but she will complain about the lack of amenities, hahaha. Well, if we are talking about survival while we get rescued, I would prefer to have my brother there with me. He’s very resourceful and finds solutions, like I do, which is helpful in a place like a deserted island. My friend Carlos, we call him Carlitos, always goes on explorations and does a bit of camping and living off the land and fishing, he’ll be a good candidate. I don’t think I would bring a 3rd person because then we will have to share whatever food we can fish with an extra person.
