Alesso announces his return to India after almost a decade with two headline shows in Bengaluru and Gurugram this November

Alesso’s connection with India began early in his international career, when the Swedish DJ was still becoming one of the major names associated with progressive house. More than a decade later, he is preparing for a new chapter in that history with two dedicated headline shows this November. Bengaluru will host the first date on November 27, followed by Gurugram on November 28, with both shows promoted by Sunburn. Announcing the dates, Alesso wrote, “It’s been almost a decade since I’ve been back and decided to change that.” His wording frames the upcoming run as a long-awaited return, while the shows themselves will mark his first solo headline tour in the country.

Alesso First Played in India in 2013

Alesso first played in India in January 2013, when his international career was gaining pace through releases such as Calling (Lose My Mind) and his remix of Nadia Ali’s Pressure. That first run included shows in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, with stops at Kitty Su, MTV Bloc Party and The Chancery Pavilion.

As his profile grew over the next three years, Alesso later returned to India in 2016 as a much bigger name. Heroes (We Could Be), Under Control and If I Lose Myself had already become major releases, while his debut album Forever had been released in 2015. EDC India then placed him on the inaugural lineup at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, alongside R3HAB, Ferry Corsten, Yellow Claw and Vini Vici.

Alesso’s Connection With Sunburn Continued in Goa

Sunburn later became another part of Alesso’s history in India, bringing him to Goa for the festival’s 2024 edition. He joined a lineup that also included Skrillex, Peggy Gou, KSHMR and Argy, adding another major Indian festival to the shows he had already played in the country.

Ahead of the festival, Alesso spoke warmly about playing for Indian fans again, saying, “I love India. It has such a long history with music and it really shows in the culture and people.” His upcoming November shows continue that relationship with Sunburn, but this time through a dedicated headline run across two cities.

The two shows will take place under Smirnoff Experience ft. Alesso, presented by Smirnoff Lemon Pop Non-Alcoholic Experience and promoted by Sunburn. Bhartiya Mall of Bengaluru will host Alesso on November 27, followed by HUDA Gymkhana Club in Gurugram on November 28.

More than 13 years after his first shows in the country, the November dates will give Alesso his first dedicated solo headline tour in India. The run also brings him back to Bengaluru, one of the three cities he played during his first Indian tour in 2013, before continuing to Gurugram for the second night.
