Romanian DJ and producer Andrew Dum continues to captivate global audiences with his evolving sound in house and melodic house. Amid the vibrant energy of UNTOLD Festival’s 10th anniversary in Cluj-Napoca last August 2025, Andrew Dum opened up about his journey, the significance of his home country’s premier electronic event, and his shift toward deeper, more emotive productions.

From Bucharest Streets to Festival Spotlights

From Bucharest, Andrew Dum’s connection to Romania shines through in his music and experiences. This year at UNTOLD proved particularly special. “It’s the first time I’m coming to UNTOLD and staying all the days,” he shared. “Because it’s 10 years of UNTOLD, I’m going to celebrate. For the first time, I see and feel the night. What happens here? It’s crazy. All the people with the music, the crowd. It’s incredible!”

Andrew Dum’s path to production is rooted in media and performance. Before becoming an artist himself, he worked as a radio DJ and media interviewer in Romania, conducting interviews with many prominent electronic music figures, often among the first to spotlight them locally. A decade ago, he even crossed paths with international stars during his television and music endeavors.

He began DJing about seven years ago, with the pandemic sparking his passion for creating original tracks. “I realized, okay, I like to play music, but I like to create,” he explained. His debut production quickly went viral, altering his trajectory and leading to high-profile releases and support from artists like RÜFÜS DU SOL, Armin van Buuren, and Martin Garrix.

New Directions in Sound

For aspiring artists chasing waves like Afrohouse, Dum’s advice is timeless: authenticity reigns supreme. “I think it’s very important to follow your heart. If you feel to do something, do it,” he urged, recounting how he ignored skeptics to release a remix that transformed his trajectory.

Now, Andrew Dum is firmly channeling his energy into house and melodic house, with his most recent release being the collaborative single “Alibi” with Manuel Riva and Darla Jade, available on Spotify. This upbeat house track features funky rhythms, a pulsating bassline, energetic percussion, and catchy vocal hooks designed to keep dance floors moving with uplifting vibes.

The Goosebumps Factor: What Makes a Track Set-Worthy

When it comes to curating his sets, Dum seeks a delicate balance. “For me it’s very important to have powerful tracks, powerful drops, and a lot of energy,” he explained. But the magic lies in those transcendent moments: “I like to have a moment in my set… to feel something. Goosebumps, you know? If you have that in my set, you remember me.” It’s this emotional hook that elevates a good DJ to an unforgettable one.

As the interview wrapped, Dum’s parting words to emerging producers echoed like a manifesto: “Follow your dreams. Follow your heart. Release everything. What do you believe? Believe in that track, release it.”

In an era where trends flicker like festival lights, Andrew Dum reminds us that true artistry endures through passion and connection. As UNTOLD celebrates a decade of beats and brotherhood, Andrew’s story is a vibrant chapter in Romania’s electronic music narrative: one that’s just getting started.
