GRiZ’s Seven Stars Festival is going on hiatus as the team searches for a new venue after two editions at Oak Ridge

Just one year after launching Seven Stars Festival alongside his return to live shows, GRiZ has confirmed that the event will now take a hiatus. The festival debuted in 2025 and held its second edition at Oak Ridge Farm in October 2026, bringing thousands of fans to Virginia across its first two years. Questions surrounding the history of the property have now led GRiZ and his team to reconsider where the festival should be held. Seven Stars Festival will not return to Oak Ridge, with the search for a new venue already becoming the next priority.

Why Seven Stars Festival Is Taking a Hiatus

The decision followed renewed scrutiny of Oak Ridge Farm, where Seven Stars Festival held its first two editions. GRiZ said he only learned the full extent of the property’s history days before making the announcement. Records from the estate document 124 enslaved people on the property during the 1800s. William Porcher Miles, a former Confederate politician connected to the design of the Confederate battle flag, later owned the estate.

More questions followed when GRiZ explained what some members of his team had known before the festival launched. Staff had previously spoken with educators from the University of Virginia about the property’s history, but GRiZ said that information never reached him. He accepted responsibility for the breakdown in communication and apologised to fans, artists and members of the community affected by the decision to hold the festival there.

What Made Seven Stars Festival So Loved in Just Two Years

Across both editions, Seven Stars Festival gave GRiZ the chance to perform three separate sets across each weekend. The lineups also brought together artists including Subtronics, Of The Trees, Tape B, Daily Bread, LSDREAM, CloZee, Ganja White Night, G Jones and ALLEYCVT, while camping, workshops and smaller activities filled the time between sets. More than 20,000 people attended the debut edition in 2025.

By 2026, the festival had added more ideas of its own, including Wubski’s Valley Diner, which operated as a functioning diner throughout the weekend. The organisers also maintained ties with the surrounding Nelson County community beyond the festival grounds. Following the first edition, GRiZ Presents, 100x Presents, Lockn’ Farm and Oak Ridge Farm pledged $30,000 to Nelson County Public Schools, while surplus food went to the Nelson County Pantry.

Finding a New Home for Seven Stars Festival

The hiatus does not mean Seven Stars Festival is ending after two editions. GRiZ made it clear that the team plans to find another location before moving ahead with the festival again, although no timeline has been announced. That leaves the next edition dependent on finding a venue that can support the scale of the event while also fitting the community values that have been part of Seven Stars since its launch.

For fans who had already made the festival an annual trip, that means the wait for a third edition could be longer than expected. Seven Stars Festival developed quickly across 2025 and 2026, giving GRiZ his own multi-day event and creating a community around it in only two years. Its next edition will now begin somewhere new, with the search for that location determining when Seven Stars can return.
