Parrish Allen Sets the Mood with His Latest Single ‘Lay Yo Head Back’
R&B artist and entrepreneur, Parrish Allen, brings back timeless romance in his single ‘Lay Yo Head Back’. Through soothing vocals, Parrish Allen sets the tone for love, desire, and, ultimately, connection.
Allen is both confident and down to earth, in a seemingly impossible balance. A fan of both R&B and old, classic rock, Parrish Allen is best known for infusing his emotions and confidence into each and every song. He uses his voice and melody to reach with listeners who appreciate authentic, timeless music.
Parrish Allen’s love for music began as a child growing up in a musical family. At one point, he joined an R&B group on the brink of success when their manager passed away. Eventually, the limelight dimmed, and Allen stepped away to commit to family life.
“Now it’s my turn,” says Parrish Allen of his return to music. After years of raising his children and creating his business, Allen can finally focus on his first love: song.
These days, Allen teams up with his nephew, a songwriter and producer, to create the perfect tune. “It’s how I got back into it,” shares Allen. “My nephew wrote a song for me to sing a year ago. People started liking it, and I had fun doing it, so he wrote another. That’s how it all began.”
“My nephew is younger and hip on how to word the lyrics,” Allen adds. “He would never write something I wouldn’t sing about.”
His latest single, “Lay Yo Head Back,” is a track off his album, After Hours, available on streaming platforms, along with a video on YouTube. “The single is about coming home and relaxing,” tells Allen. “It’s a sexual song, but it also means ‘lay your head back, I want to make you feel good coming back from work.’ It’s an invitation to take care of your woman.”
After Hours is Parrish Allen’s second album in a year. “This one has a grown feel but keeps with mid-2000 R&B. It’s nice and fun to listen to,” adds the singer.
Parrish Allen is a believer—and he wants listeners to believe in themselves, as well. According to Allen, many people give up on their dreams when they reach a certain age. “What sets me apart is the fact that I’m moving forward on the train I had before, while others just stopped. It’s not about age,” he explains. “It’s about having the love for music, singing, whatever you enjoy. People give it up to raise children. But once you do that, go back to your love of music. Do it, go forward.” Allen hopes to change the narrative and inspire others to follow their dreams at any age.
Not only is Parrish Allen a skilled musician and inspiration to many—he is also a man of the community, an entrepreneur, and an empath. His company, Parrish Entertainment LLC employs 200 team members and created 17 group homes.
Up next for the artist is the release of “On Me,” a single with a recently completed music video. “The next one is an up-tempo club song to dance to,” warns Parrish Allen. So, get your dancing shoes ready.
“Lay Yo Head Back” is available on all streaming platforms, with promotional support from Starlight PR.
