BENNETT Speaks About His Latest Single ‘Lullaby’, His Creativity, Playing Shows & More

To celebrate the release of his brand new single ‘Lullaby’, we’re thrilled to have a chat with rising techno star BENNETT. His latest single has quickly become a favorite among fans for its hypnotic blend of gentle melodies and robust techno beats, BENNETT joins us from sunny Berlin. With a track record of chart-topping hits and an unyielding passion for innovation, he continues to redefine the boundaries of techno music. Today, he shares insights into his creative process, the joy of connecting with fans through music, and what lies ahead in his dynamic career.

Hey BENNETT, thanks for speaking with us, how are you doing today?

Hey! Right now I’m in Berlin, and for the first time this year the sun is really shining, which is lifting my mood a lot. So I’m feeling great 🙂

Let’s kick things off with your brand new single ‘Lullaby’, how happy are you for it to be out now?

“Lullaby” has become my absolute favorite track of mine ever since I created it. Since that day, I’ve been really excited for its release. So, I’m even happier now that the track is out.

A unique and powerful single, is there a story behind this one?

Since I don’t live in Berlin, I knew a lot of musicians from social media and had chatted with many people I wanted to collaborate with. Three months ago, I went to Berlin for the first time to make music. I messaged a friend called Lavinia, who lives in Berlin and works as a singer and songwriter. I always wanted to make music with her, but it never worked out because she’s in Berlin and I’m not. When I messaged her, we had a jam session that same day, and “Lullaby” was the first track that came out of it.

It’s gotten a really positive reaction since its release, was that something you had expected in creating?

No, I hadn’t. While making music, I don’t think about how it might be received. In that moment, I just enjoy making it and having fun. But when I showed the song to people on social media it was well-received, and I was very happy that everyone else found the track as cool as I did.

This single, and your previous releases, show a side of creativity that you’re bringing to the techno brand, is that super important for you as an artist to bring your own flavor to your releases?

Definitely. I think every musician should try to develop their own signature sound. Once you’ve created your own sound, you automatically stand out from all the other artists, which isn’t easy in the music industry anymore. So, I believe it’s a very important tool to make yourself irreplaceable as an artist.

Also, this is the fun part of making music. I can let my creativity run wild and incorporate my full individuality into the song as much as I want.

Do you have any other cool releases planned which maybe utilize that creative sampling?

Even though “Lullaby” wasn’t a remix of a sample, I’m sure I’ll try sampling again soon, as that’s where I come from. When I was a small artist, I didn’t have the opportunities to work with singers in studios. Sampling was the only thing that was possible for me. While I have other options now, which I’m very grateful for and enjoy very much, it gives me a huge sense of nostalgia. Sitting alone at home with a sample again, and spending a whole night changing it to create something new. I think that will just never get boring.

Moving away from sampling, what is one perfect tune that you don’t feel should ever be remixed?

I think there are tons of really cool songs out there. However, I don’t think that’s a reason not to sample them. It doesn’t always have to be about making a song “better” or “worse.” A good example is the hit “Where Are You Now” by Lost Frequencies. In my opinion, the song is perfect just the way it is. However, Lost Frequencies’ Deluxe Mix is also perfect in its own way. They’re just two different interpretations, both with their own validity.

With the success of your music, how are you finding performing and playing shows as the crowds become more aware of your catalog?

The more I realize that people at the shows know and follow me and my music, the more fun the shows become for me, of course. It’s just a really nice feeling to see that when I play one of my songs, people scream, cheer, and sing along. I noticed that people are becoming more open to what I play in my sets as I’ve gained more of their trust through my recent releases.  I’m super grateful for that.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us, do you have anything else you’d like to say to our readers?

Since we mentioned it earlier, I want to encourage all musicians, producers, or creative minds here to just do what they enjoy. Don’t let anyone tell you how to make music or what not to do. Have the courage to think outside the box and bring your own style into it.

If you’re not making music yourself but supporting me, thank you so much! I really appreciate it and look forward to meeting all of you at one festival or another soon 🙂
