HUGEL Responds to AI Claims Surrounding ‘Movin’ To The Sun’
HUGEL has addressed the use of AI in his hit “Movin’ To The Sun,” sharing a video that breaks down how the track was made.
The tune, a collaboration with Ultra Naté and Imael Angel, has been one of the biggest releases of HUGEL‘s year so far. It reached the top spot on the world’s most Shazamed songs list and earned him his second number one on Billboard‘s Dance Airplay chart, so it was perhaps inevitable that a track performing at that level would attract scrutiny.
The questions trace back to ‘I’m Moving to the Sun’, an AI-generated song that went viral in April 2026 and is credited to Imael Angel, an artist project many listeners have identified as AI-originated. HUGEL and Late Nine subsequently built out a full production around the concept, bringing in house music veteran Ultra Naté for the track’s vocals. In the video, HUGEL walks through that process, explaining how the idea moved from its AI-connected starting point to the finished record.
HUGEL has not been shy about the scale of the song’s success this year. ‘Movin’ To The Sun’ sits alongside ‘Jamaican (Bam Bam)’ as one of the two tunes that held the top two spots among the world’s most Shazamed songs simultaneously, a milestone that few artists in any genre have managed. The attention around its AI-connected origins appears to be a byproduct of that visibility, with the track’s unusual backstory and distinctive vocal drawing the kind of scrutiny that inevitably follows a song of this size.
