For more than a decade, fans have debated NCS vs Monstercat. Now, as both labels celebrate their 15th anniversaries, that rivalry is becoming reality through a six-week collaborative release campaign featuring artists from both catalogues featuring a stacked lineup of new releases from both sides launching on Wednesday, August 12th running through Wednesday, September 16th.
Both founded in 2011, NCS and Monstercat quickly became key pillars of internet music culture. From championing emerging producers to breaking global hits, the labels have left a massive imprint that spans well beyond dance music.
As YouTube, gaming, and electronic music exploded in popularity, both Monstercat and NCS found themselves at the center of a new generation of music fans. Long before dance music became a mainstream staple, the two labels helped introduce millions of listeners to emerging artists through gaming, creator content, and online communities, building global fanbases around a shared passion for electronic music.
Over the years, the overlap between those communities only grew. Artists moved between both labels, fans debated which catalogue was better, and a friendly rivalry emerged that has lasted for more than a decade. Now, as both Monstercat and NCS celebrate their 15th anniversaries, the two labels are finally bringing that rivalry to life through a campaign built for the communities that helped shape them.
NCS vs Monstercat: 15 Year Anniversary is a six-week collaborative release campaign beginning August 12, with the full compilation arriving September 16. Each week, both labels will contribute a track inspired by a shared theme, celebrating the legacies that brought them here while showcasing the artists shaping the future of electronic music.
Charlotte Lee, General Manager of NCS shared “for the last 15 years, the friendly rivalry between NCS and Monstercat has been one of the internet’s favourite debates. It was never something we created – it was built by the community, fuelled by incredible artists, unforgettable records, and millions of fans championing the label they loved. While we’ve always taken different paths, we’ve shared the same passion for discovering talent and soundtracking the internet. Bringing both labels together for our 15th anniversaries felt like the perfect way to celebrate that history, honour the communities that made it all possible, and look ahead to the next generation of artists and fans,” said Charlotte Lee, General Manager, NCS.
Orri Sachar, Vice President of Monstercat added “This partnership feels so unexpected it’s almost taboo, like the kind of fan fiction crossover that would never actually happen. But we’ve been close with Charlotte, Dan and the NCS team for years, and with our 15-year anniversaries falling just weeks apart, it felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the rich, interconnected history of two of the internet’s biggest record labels.”
Neils “Nins” Raes, Project Manager of Monstercat & Jack Davies, Social Media Manager NCS share, “when we first met at ADE 2025, we both joked about doing something together for our 15th anniversaries. When we pitched the idea to our teams, they were immediately on board. We both grew up with the sounds of Monstercat and NCS, so being able to bring a campaign to life that we once dreamed of as community members is a surreal feeling.”
The anniversary campaign also extends into a series of pop-up events across several cities, with NCS and Monstercat continuing the celebration beyond the weekly releases.
